Three Japanese chain examples show why the patty is only one part of an order.
Read beyond the patty
Doutor's published soy-meat hot sandwich includes cheese and explicitly notes animal ingredients. Freshness Burger's March 2023 soy-patty announcement distinguishes a plant-derived patty from buns and sauces containing animal ingredients. MOS's November 2021 article discusses its plant-based approach and shared production conditions.
The two dated announcements are historical evidence. They are not current stock lists, prices or promises that an item is still sold.
Check a complete current recipe
For a burger today, ask about the patty, bun, spread, sauce, cheese and other toppings. Removing visible cheese does not establish the ingredients of the bread or dressing. Preparation conditions may need a separate discussion depending on your requirements.
Prefer a full-dish statement from the current menu to a social-media caption that says only “soy meat.” If staff cannot substantiate a suitable complete order, keep it unconfirmed. None of these examples establishes a chain-wide halal policy. A familiar burger shape and a plant-based component are useful clues, but neither is a dietary guarantee.
